Direct Support Provider - Respite Worker
Necessary Qualifications Include:
Post-secondary diploma or degree in: Psychology, or Developmental Disabilities, or Child and Youth Worker, or Developmental Services Worker, or Autism and Behavioural Science, or Personal Support Worker, or Early Childhood Educator, or Equivalent.
Must be comfortable and confident working with individuals of all ages and abilities.
Must be friendly and professional.
Must have a great attitude and willingness to learn.
Must be a team player and able to work independently.
Must be comfortable with personal care.
Must be comfortable working with clients with behavioural challenges.
Must be First Aid and CPR certified.
Preferred Qualifications Include:
Certificate in Safe-Managment, or Behaviour Management Systems Training, or Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Counseling.
Experience with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities an asset.
Responsibilities
​Include but not limited to:
Engaging with clients in a 1:1 or group setting.
Engaging clients in meaningful activities
Interacting positively and professionally with clients, their families, and staff
Helping set up and clean up activities with/after clients
Supporting clients with activities, personal, and group goals
Assisting clients with personal care
Assisting clients with meals
Prepping material for activities
Providing clients with support in a dignified manner
Planning and developing engaging activities: academic, recreation, arts and crafts, sport related, etc.
